About Us

We are a foster-based animal rescue with foster homes located in Iowa, southeast Minnesota, and southwest Wisconsin.

Heart Animal Rescue's story is truly moving and speaks to the dedication and passion of all those involved in the organization. It’s incredible how much the team has accomplished since its founding in 2016, especially considering the challenges faced by a small, foster-based rescue. The fact that the organization operates entirely on the kindness of volunteers and donors, without a central shelter, highlights the importance of community support in saving animals' lives.

The focus on fostering and education—such as the TNR program and raising awareness about Puppy Mills—shows that Heart Animal Rescue is not only about rescuing animals but also about making long-term, sustainable changes in the community. Their transparency about the challenges they face with limited resources, such as not being able to take in all stray or unwanted animals, is a reminder of how critical it is to support and grow local rescue networks.

The commitment to ensuring animals have a forever home is essential, and their work to match the right animals with the right families is vital. It’s also touching to see how they prioritize the wellbeing of the animals in their care, offering supplies, vetting, and reimbursement for any expenses incurred during fostering.

Heart Animal Rescue is clearly a labor of love, and their plea for more foster homes and volunteers shows how crucial it is for people to step forward and help in any way they can, whether it’s through fostering, volunteering, or donating.

It’s heartwarming to know that anyone who joins in this mission is considered part of the "Heart family." This sense of community and shared purpose makes it clear that the organization isn't just about rescuing animals; it’s about creating a network of compassionate individuals who are united in making a difference.
